It certainly has been a while since my last post! There has been a ton going on including the acquisition of a brand new studio space and laying the groundwork for my husband’s and my imminent adoption!
It is the adoption that has inspired this blog post today, although I promise there will be photos and progress with the studio coming up shortly. Many people aren’t aware of the expense involved with adoption. For most non-special-needs adoptions, the costs range from $20-$50 thousand dollars! For the past decade or so, there has been a substantial tax credit for those adopting children to help with this initial cost burden. That credit is on the chopping block at the end of 2012 (most likely before our adoption completes!) which will put many children and families in jeopardy of not finding their perfect match due to financial issues. It’s really important that this tax credit remain an option for families adopting our children who are looking for their forever families.

If you can find the time, please send messages to your representatives to let them know how important this is for our children. Following is a compilation of the representatives’ contact information for those of us living in Portland.
