Serra as a teen dying pysanky eggs
As a kid, Easter was all about egg decoration for me. I loved doing anything arts & crafty, and I looked forward to it every year. Traditions like these are an important part of building family story and cohesion.
My mom always sat down with us and she didn’t dumb it down – she made really creative designs that inspired my sister and me to reach for more. As I got older, instead of growing out of egg dying, I just elevated it. I started blowing out the center of the eggs and doing intricate psyanky techniques with melted wax.
I love the range of ages, skill levels, and tastes that can be accommodated with the elegant canvas of an egg shell!
So in that spirit, I’ve pulled together some inspiration. Why not spend the day today bonding over a project and creating a story. I know this is something I’ll continue with my kids. What are you going to try this year?
