It’s official! We’re moving out of our tiny home office and into our new studio space!
This particular story has been in the works for quite some time; we started more than a year ago. Through issues large and small with contractors (Pro tip: Don’t make the final payment until you’ve reviewed that *all* the job details have been completed), building code, and trying to do too much at once, we’ve finally reached the provebial light at the end of the tunnel.
Sure, there are a still a few kinks to work out, and a bit more decorating to do. But the space is usable, and we’re excited to get started using it!
We were a bit too close to the action on this one to remember to take a lot of photos during the process this particular story, but we did manage to get some cell-phone snapshots. So, without further ado, here’s an extremely brief photo summary of a a very long work in progress:
In the beginning: A large garage, with a bunch of accumulated junk and the bare beginnings of the framing for the interior walls.
Wiring and wallboard, well on their way.
Garage door replaced with a wall, window, and people-doors.
We decided to go with uneven cedar shingles, and installed them ourselves. It was much easier than we expected!
Completed exterior…well, aside from replacing that busted-up original door on the right.
Interior space, after much delay re-wiring, and deliberation over paint colors.
If you follow our Facebook page, you know that the process of getting these 16-foot baseboards from the lumber store to the studio is a story in and of itself!
