Big Girl Birthday Portraits
I want to share with you this beautiful little girl whose five-year-old birthday was in May. I took photos of her last year when she was four years old, and it was so much fun to see how much she’s come out of her shell over the past year! I always like following clients over time and watching kids and families grow.
Dynamic Toddler Session
When I head out to a toddler portrait session, I prepare myself for all possibilities. By the end of this session I was so happy I could barely contain myself. I always love kid photo sessions, but this one just really put a smile on my face. I hope it does yours, too!

First Birthday Cake
Kids change so much during their first years, and the first birthday is an exciting one because the whole experience is brand new! I was expecting a bit more mess, honestly, but she ate like a princess… for the most part. I did manage to capture some frosting on her darling face, though, and we all had a lot of laughs about it.
What to Wear for a Successful Portrait Session
Many people ask me what to wear to their portrait session. Here are a few hints but just remember, the most important thing is to feel good in what you are wearing, because wearing something that feels inauthentic results in photos where you look like you feel inauthentic… and what’s the point of a portrait other than to capture you or your child as you are!
Being Visible

Day at the Park
I like to play in these situations and take more traditional shots with everyone smiling and looking at the camera as well as more non-traditional shots that are more like a slice of life and then put them together.
