I’m currently seeking a sales and marketing partner to help secure and execute large school-based shoots such as special event photos. To be good at this job you’ll need a positive attitude and be very comfortable talking to people on all levels, from students through principals. Technical ability desirable but not required, sales and marketing experience will help a lot but are not absolutely necessary, the main thing is you must be a people person who has the innate ability to win people over and convince them to give us a chance!

Duties will include some or all of the following, depending on agreement: Making initial contact and setting up proposal meetings, remaining the contact liaison between me and the school, helping design marketing materials, consulting about pricing structures, manning the sales table at events and selling packages to students, and possibly organizing and delivering packages to schools.

Pay will be on a generous commission basis, and will be discussed upon designing a contract agreement. This is by no means a full-time gig, but will be great for someone who has a bit of spare time and thinks it would be a fun way to earn a little extra. So if you or someone you know wants to make some extra money sporadically throughout the year and has interest and/or experience with networking, sales, and marketing, please send me a note!

There are so many reasons why I love taking photographs. The most compelling reason I can come up with off the top of my head this morning is the desire to share this life with people and capture it’s beauty.

Every portrait session is unique in its energy, its purpose, and its style in the moment. I love sitting down and looking through the photography that I’ve captured, but it’s just that much more rewarding when the photos find their way back to me again. For example, a mom that I worked with for maternity and newborn portraits back in 2008 sent me a note recently.

She said about her now one and a half year old daughter, “Ixa currently drags around the collage you made of my pregnancy pictures and talks about it all the time- it’s her favorite mama picture at the moment! thanks again!!”

If you’ve had doubts about why it’s important to allow a professional photographer to help you capture your memories, here’s just one testament to it’s true value.

Although I’ve been photographing babies for going on 6 years now professionally, this is the first I’ve done independently and therefore the first I’ve done without the confidence that comes from studio lighting, and the comfort of having all of the quilts, seamless backdrops, and posing tools I’m accustomed to.

It forced me to be more creative in some ways and there were definitely a lot of failed attempts in there, but in the end I came out with a lot of great shots that I never could have gotten in the studio because of the differences just mentioned, which was pretty exciting! I can’t wait to do more!

Here are a couple of my favorites…

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_63OfvmlEgzU/R0zM17Sy5zI/AAAAAAAAAFI/n50UiguVeVY/s400/SophiaEyesFeet.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137706501744551730" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_63OfvmlEgzU/R0zNK7Sy52I/AAAAAAAAAFg/C_xcJ2-Vgsg/s400/SophiaMom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137706862521804642" />
